Incarnation (1 John 1:2)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 06-14-04

My Worship Time                  Focus:  Incarnation

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  1John 1:2

Message of the verse:  “2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.”  (NIV)  “2 For it was life which appeared before us: we saw it, we are eye-witnesses of it, and are now writing to you about it. It was the very life of all ages, the life that has always existed with the Father, which actually became visible in person to us.”  (PHILIPS)

John is writing to his readers about Jesus Christ and His coming to earth so that he was able to see Him, and because he has seen Him, he wants to tell his readers about this.  In this verse John is proclaiming the deity of Jesus Christ, for he writes that Jesus has existed eternally with the Father.  John tells his readers without and doubt that Jesus Christ is truly God in the flesh.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  This is perhaps the most important doctrine in the Bible, that of the deity of Jesus Christ.  It is important to me each and every day of my life, because if this doctrine were not true, then there would be no salvation for anyone, ever.

The Word of God was very refreshing to my soul as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To trust the Lord to give me in my heart what it is that He wants me to give for devotion this evening at our prayer meeting.  I am thankful for the opportunity of leading the prayer meeting each week for the cause of Christ, and for God’s leading in our church as we wait upon Him to see who He has chosen for our new shepherd.

Memory verse for the week:  1Corthinians 13:4,5

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
