SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: God’s Love Perfects in Us
Bible Reading &
Meditation: Reference: 1John
4:12,13
Message of the verse: “12 No one has seen God at any time; if we
love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in Him and
He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.” (NAS95)
“12 No one has ever seen God. But
if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love has been brought to full
expression through us. 13 And God has given us his Spirit as proof that
we live in him and he in us.” (NLT)
No one has
seen God at any time is a phrase that was spoken by John the Baptist in John
1:18. No human being has ever seen God
in the way that He exists in heaven, all though God has made Himself visible to
men in ways that men can see Him. The
best example of that is Jesus Christ, and that is whom John was speaking about
in John 1:18. The apostle John is saying
here that if believers love one another God will abide in them and thus His
love will be perfected in them so that others will see God’s love in
action. John goes on in verse 13 to
speak about God’s Holy Spirit and says that the giving of His Holy Spirit to
believer is proof of God’s love for us and this is how believers can love one
another by abiding in God through the Spirit who lives in them.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I
believe that selfishness is the easiest way to cause me not to be abiding in
God’s love, and thus not fulfilling what God has in mine for me to accomplish
while in the body He has given me to dwell while upon this earth.
My Steps of Faith
Today: To be controlled by God’s
Holy Spirit as I go about my day today, and especially at Sharlotte and Tim’s
wedding today.
