SPIRITUAL
DIARY FOR 02-08-03
My
Worship Time Focus: Our Sympathetic High
Priest
Bible
Reading & Meditation Reference: Hebrews 4:15
1. Message of the verse: “For we have not an high priest which cannot
be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted
like as we are, yet without sin.”
(KJV) “For we do not have a High
Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted
as we are, yet without sin.” (NKJV) “This High Priest of ours understands our
weaknesses, for He faced all of the same temptations we do, yet He did not
sin.” (NLT)
The Lord
Jesus Christ not only came down from heaven to become a man so that He would
qualify to die for our sins, but He also became our High Priest so that He can
bring intersession for His own. To be
our sympathetic High Priest Jesus Christ knew all of our weakness and all of
our temptations, yet He did it without sin.
He knows what we go through in our lives because He was on this earth in
an earthly body subject to the things that we go through each day of our
lives. I want to hone in on the word
sympathize that the NKJV uses in this verse because from other readings about
the word it seems that it is not understood as well as it should be in this day
and age. Strong’s says of this
word: “AV-have compassion 1, be touched
with a feeling of 1; 2 1) to be affected with the same feeling as another, to
sympathise with; 2) to feel for, have compassion on. The part where it says, “to be affected with
the same feeling as another, to sympathise with” is the heart and soul of Jesus
Christ being my High Priest, for He can do this for me.
2. Spiritual meaning for my life today: Jesus
Christ knows what I am going through when I am tempted, or sad, or overcome by
anger, or anything that I am going through, and He can sympathize with me in
the truest since of the meaning of that word.
The Word of God was refreshing to me as I studied it this
morning.
My
Steps of Faith Today: I
want to trust the Lord for the things that are going on regarding Haven
Equity. I know that the Lord has been
blessing my life through this ministry and I believe that He will continue to
do so. Because of this knowing that He
is in charge I need not worry about it and just trust the Lord with it. I give this to the Lord today.
Memory verse for the week:
Colossians 4:5
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most
of every opportunity.
