SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 09/06/2005
My Worship Time Focus: VICTORY
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Revelations 15:2
Message of the verse: “2 And I saw something like a sea of glass
mixed with fire, and those who had been victorious over the beast and his image
and the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, holding harps of God.”
John uses
another simile to describe what he is looking at in this verse, for as he looks
at the people who have been victorious over the beast, he says that they look
to be standing on a sea of glass that is mixed with fire. In the next verse,
which will be looked at in more detail latter, John says that these people are
singing the song of Moses, and this song is recorded in Exodus 15, and was sung
right after the Israelites crossed the Red Sea on dry land and the Egyptians
were drowned in that sea, so there is some connection between these two groups
of people in that they are both victorious over their enemies and there is a
sea involved in both cases.
John goes
on to say that these people were victorious over the beast, him image, and the
number of his name. These are the people
who did not bow down to the beast or his image or accept his number, and
because of this these believers had a very rough time while living on the
earth, for they could not buy anything or even work because they did not have
the mark of the beast on them. John
finishes the verse by saying that these believers were standing on this sea of
glass and were holding harps of God.
This seems to be where people who do not know much about heaven say that
when we get to heaven all will be doing is standing around on clouds and
playing harps. It could be that these
believers were making music with these harps as they were singing their praises
to the Lord.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: As I look at this verse I see much hope in it
because these believers who were standing in heaven singing to the Lord and
were victorious may not have thought they had a lot of victories when they were
upon the earth going through some of the hardest times anyone has ever gone
through since man was created, yet they were standing in heaven in victory as
this verse declares. There are many
times lately as I have gone through some tough times that I do not think I am
victorious, but the truth is that I am because I am in Christ Jesus and someday
I too, will be standing in the presence of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
singing praises to His name and all the things that I am going through at this
point in my life will all make perfect sense to me.
The Word of God has been refreshment to my soul as I read
and studied it this morning.
My Steps of Faith
Today: Continue to trust the Lord in
everything because He has a perfect plan for my life and, just as this verse
declares, I will one day be with Him in victory.
Memory verses for the week:
Psalm
27:1-2
The Lord is my light and my salvation; who shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be
afraid?
When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh;
My adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall.
