SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 01/05/2006
My Worship Time Focus:
Creation on the forth day.
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Genesis 1:14-19
Message of the verse: “14 Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in
the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be
for signs and for seasons and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights
in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth’; and it was so. 16 God
made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser
light to govern the night; He
made the stars also.17 God placed
them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to govern
the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw
that it was good. 19 There was evening and there was morning, a
fourth day.”
In verses
fourteen through it can be seen that God created the sun and the moon and all
of the stars in order to separate the light from the darkness, the day from the
night. There was already light upon the
earth, but now by creating the sun, moon and the stars there would be light in
the heavens as well as on the earth. The
sun, moon and stars would be used to divide the days, and the seasons.
It did not
take people too long after the fall of man to begin to worship the stars, and
later on when God had to scramble the languages, it was because men began to
chart and to worship the stars, and this surely was not the purpose of them
being made, for only God deserves all worship and glory given to Him.
At the end
of day four’s creation God again said that it was good.
These last three days of creation were the filling of the
heavens and the earth which had been created on the first three days.
Notice from
the highlighted portion of verse 16 “He made the stars also.” This kind of seems like an afterthought when
you think about it. God spends most of
the creation week making planet earth and then Moses writes that God also made
the stars too. Something to think about.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I guess that this part of God’s creation
gives me the most trouble in my mind, and I suppose that the better that I get
to know my Creator the less trouble that it should give me. The problem is why God created all of the
billions and billions of stars that, at least for now, man cannot even
see. Were these done for the purpose of
man or does God have another reason? The
more that I ponder all of this, I believe that God did this because He loves
His creation that much, for if He was willing to have His only Son die for His
creation, then the issue with the stars should be answered in my mine that it
was out of love He did this.
The Word of God has been very challenging to my heart as I
read and studied His Word this afternoon.
My Steps of Faith
Today: Continue to trust the Lord to
guide my steps and to teach me contentment.
