PT-3 "Do Not Be Ignorant" (2 Thes. 2:9-10a)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 10/16/2014 10:52 PM

My Worship Time                                                                        Focus: PT-3 Do not be Ignorant

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  2Thessalonians 2:9-10a

Message of the verses:  9  that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness”

This is the third SD under the heading of not to be Ignorant and this section is entitled “His Power” and we will see where the Antichrist receives his power from, and it is not a surprise that it comes from Satan, for Satan had desired to be worshiped ever since he sinned as we can see from the following verses:  “12 “How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations! 13 “But you said in your heart, ’I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north. 14 ’I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’”  (This comes from Isaiah 14:12-14 and it tells of Satan’s fall or Lucifer’s fall as he became Satan, and when he says that he will become like the most high then we can see from that statement that he desires worship.)

We see in our verses that Antichrist’s power will be in accord with the activity of Satan and John MacArthur states the (activity) is the word Energeia which is the root of the English ‘energy,’ and this describes the power in action.”  This word is usually describing the power of God, but in this case it is describing the power of Satan.  Next we see that this power will bring about signs and wonders which are false signs and wonders, but there will be many people who will fall for these thinking that they are from God.  In the book of Revelation we see that Antichrist is supposedly raised from the dead, and some think this will happen and others think that it is a cover up.  John MacArthur writes “Pseudos (false) modifies all three terms; Antichrist’s miracles, signs, and wonders are false not in the sense that they are fakery but that they lead to false conclusions about who he is.”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I am glad that the Holy Spirit lives within me so that I will never be fooled by any false sings or wonders.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Continue to trust the Lord to guide my path.
