SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 12/8/2020 11:01 AM
My Worship Time Focus:
PT-4 “The Protection of Prayer”
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Matthew
6:13-14
Message of the verses: 13 And
do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is
the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. 14 “For if you forgive
men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
We continue to look at what MacArthur
wrote in his book “Jesus’ Pattern of Prayer” in our SD for today. It looks like we will have one more SD to do
after this one in order to complete our study of the “Lord’s Prayer.”
“And
so in the midst of trial I say, ‘O God, I need Your strength infused in me, and
I submit to the truths of Your Word. My
responses, attitudes, actions, and thoughts are all in submission to Your Word.
“It
is His Word that prunes the branches as seen in John 15. It is His Word that is hidden in our hearts
that we might not sin (Psalm 119:105).
It is His Word that is sweet and defends us against the attack
(Ephesians 6).
“As
we submit to the truths of His Word and take up the sword of God and begin to
put it to use in our lives, we resist the devil and he flees. We cry with Christ, ‘Father, spare me the
trial, but if the trial fits Your wisdom and Your way and Your plan, protect me
so that I can survive it and grow.’
“Will
God hear this prayer? Yes, based on 1
Corinthians 10:13), one of the greatest verses in the Bible.” “There hath no temptation taken you but such
as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be
tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (KJV).
“There
hath no temptation (peirasmos, trial
from Satan) taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you
to be tempted [peirazo, tried or
tested] above that ye are able.’ Never.
“You
can never say, ‘It was too much for me.’
He will always with the trial provide the way out.
“John
18 illustrates that so powerfully. Jesus
was in the garden. He had to be captured by the fort soldiers, who were
led by officers of the chief priests and Pharisees. They came with their lanterns and their
weapons, and Jesus said to them: ‘Whom do you seek?’
‘Jesus
of Nazareth.’
“He
made them say that two times, because that was exactly what He wanted them to
utter. They had no right to take anybody
but Him. He made them admit that publicly. He answered in John 18:8, ‘I have told you
that I am He. If therefore ye seek me,
let these go their way,’ referring to the eleven disciples with Him.
“Why
did He say that? Verse 9: ‘That the saying might be fulfilled, which He
spake, Of them which Thou gavest me have I lost none.’ He would not let His disciples enter a trial
that they could not endure (1 Corinthians 10:13).
