SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  Hezekiah the victor PT. 3

                                                                                                                        (Deliverance)

Bible Reading & Meditation  Reference:  2Ki. 19:28, 30-37; 2Chron. 32:21-22; Isa. 37:31-38

Message of the verses:  “28  ’Because of your raging against Me, And because your arrogance has come up to My ears, Therefore I will put My hook in your nose, And My bridle in your lips, And I will turn you back by the way which you came.”

“30  ’The surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root downward and bear fruit upward. 31  ’For out of Jerusalem will go forth a remnant, and out of Mount Zion survivors. The zeal of the LORD will perform this. 32  ’Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, "He will not come to this city or shoot an arrow there; and he will not come before it with a shield or throw up a siege ramp against it. 33  "By the way that he came, by the same he will return, and he shall not come to this city,"’ declares the LORD. 34  ’For I will defend this city to save it for My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.’"

“35 ¶  Then it happened that night that the angel of the LORD went out and struck 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians; and when men rose early in the morning, behold, all of them were dead. 36  So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and returned home, and lived at Nineveh. 37  It came about as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer killed him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son became king in his place.”

“21  And the LORD sent an angel who destroyed every mighty warrior, commander and officer in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned in shame to his own land. And when he had entered the temple of his god, some of his own children killed him there with the sword. 22  So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.”

“31  "The surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root downward and bear fruit upward. 32  "For out of Jerusalem will go forth a remnant and out of Mount Zion survivors. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."’ 33  "Therefore, thus says the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, ’He will not come to this city or shoot an arrow there; and he will not come before it with a shield, or throw up a siege ramp against it. 34  ’By the way that he came, by the same he will return, and he will not come to this city,’ declares the LORD. 35  ’For I will defend this city to save it for My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.’" 36  Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians; and when men arose early in the morning, behold, all of these were dead. 37  So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and returned home and lived at Nineveh. 38  It came about as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons killed him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son became king in his place.”

The Rabshakeh was boasting that one of his junior officers was stronger than 2000 Jewish charioteers” 8  "Now therefore, come make a bargain with my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.9  "How then can you repulse one official of the least of my master’s servants and rely on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen ( Isa. 36:8-9)  One of the Lord’s angels came into the camp of the Assyrians and killed 185,000 soldiers in one night.  No boasting was needed as the power of the Lord took care of the Assyrians.

Dr. Wiersbe asks and answers two important questions that I will close this section with:  “Why did God deliver His people?  For the glory of His own name, of course, and for the sake of David whom he loved (19:34).  Why does He bless His people today?  For the sake of His own glory and because of His love for His own Son who died for us.”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I believe that one begins to understand the glory of the Lord that one will understand the Lord of Glory better for the glory of the Lord is seen in all of His attributes, and to understand the Lord one must begin to understand His attributes.  When one understands His attributes then one will be able to understand what is going on in the Word of God in a more fulfilling way.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Give myself to the Lord for worship and for services this day.

2.      Remain in the Lord so that the Lord will produce fruit through me.

3.      Continue to learn contentment.

4.      Proverbs 3:5-6.

5.      Psalm 139:23-24.

6.      Eph. 6:10-18.
