My
Worship Time Focus: OT sacrifice verses
Christ’s sacrifice
Bible
Reading & Meditation Reference: Hebrews 10:11,12
1. Message of the verse: “11 And every priest stands daily ministering
and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away
sins; 12 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN
AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD.” (NASB) “And every priest stand ministering daily and
offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sis. But this Man, after He had offered on
sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.” (NLT)
These
verses compare the work and sacrifice of the OT high priest with the sacrifice
and finished work of Jesus Christ our Great High Priest. The OT priest stood to minister, while after
Christ work was done He sat down at the highly exalted seat on the right hand
of God, the OT priests offered thousands upon thousands of sacrifices, while
Christ offered Himself once for all, the OT priest sacrifices could only cover
sin, while Christ’s sacrifice took away sin forever.
2. Spiritual meaning for my life today: When I read verses like these I think of a
song that is in our hymnbook called “What a Wonderful Savior!” The refrain goes like this, “What a wonderful
Savior is Jesus, my Jesus! What a
wonderful Savior is Jesus, my Lord!”
The Word of God was very refreshing to me as I read and
studied it this morning.
Memory verses for the week:
Psalm 40:9-12; 1John 4:18
9.
I have proclaimed glade tidings of righteousness in the
great congregation; Behold, I will not restrain my lips, O LORD, Though
knowest.
10. I
have not hidden Thy righteousness within my heart; I have spoken of Thy
faithfulness and Thy salvation; I have not concealed Thy lovingkindness and Thy
truth from the great congregation.
11. Thou,
O LORD, will not withhold Thy compassion from me; Thy lovingkindness and Thy
truth will continually preserve me.
12. For
evils beyond measure have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so
that I am not able to see; They are more numerous than the hairs of my head;
And my heart has failed me.
18. There
is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves
punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
