How Godly Wisdom Operates (James 3:13 and 17)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 10-02-03

My Worship Time                                          Focus:  PT-1 "How Godly Wisdom Operates"

Bible Reading & Meditations                                   Reference:  James 3:13and17

Message of the verse:  “Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.  But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.”  (NASB)  “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”  (KJV)

A.    Godly wisdom operates with meekness.  Meekness is part of the fruit of the Spirit, therefore man cannot manufacture it.  I keep thinking about a quote from “Be Mature” that I read yesterday that said, “A man’s life is not read in his press releases; it is read by the Lord in his heart.  ‘Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.’  (1Cor. 4:5)  This is true in so many aspects of my life and that is why I need to ask the Lord to search my heart so often.  Meekness is not weakness, but power under control.  A truly meek person only wants to give glory to the Lord and not to men as seen in the life of Jesus Christ.  The Greeks used this word to describe a horse that had been broken and was no under the control of the rider.  “Meekness is the right use of power, and wisdom is the right use of knowledge,” this describes the phrase at the end of verse thirteen.

B.     Godly wisdom operates with purity.  (3:17) James says that Godly wisdom is first pure, and this speaks of the holiness of God and maybe why James lists if first in verse seventeen.  A mature believer in Jesus Christ will have godly wisdom and godly wisdom is first pure or holy, or as stated before that it is perfectly gone towards perfection that is under the control of the Lord.  When we follow God’s wisdom it will lead to purity of heart, but man’s will lead to sin.

C.     God’s wisdom operates with peace. (3:17)  Man’s wisdom leads to fighting’s and wars, and the like while God’s wisdom leads to peace, but peace through holiness.  God will never have peace at any price for that is not peace at all.  If there is sin then it must be dealt with in the proper way described in God’s Word and then there will be God’s peace.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  To be reminded that God cannot manufacture the fruit of the Spirit was good to read today.  I was glad to read about how meekness is described in the Scriptures too.

The Word of God was refreshing to my soul, and it was also convicting to my heart as I read and studied it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To trust the Lord Jesus Christ through the power of His Holy Spirit to bring about the fruit of the Spirit in my life today and everyday that God gives me breath, for I know now that it is not up to me to manufacture it on my own, for if I did then it would not be real.
