Another View of the 144,000 (Rev. 14:1)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 08/24/2005

My Worship Time                  Focus:  Another view of the 144,000

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Revelations 14:1

Message of the verse:  “1. Then I saw the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him were 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.”  (NLT)

There are two Mount Zion’s mentioned in the Bible, one is in Jerusalem and the other is in heaven, so the question is which one is John writing about in this passage?  I would have to say that this scene takes place in heaven and that these are the same 144,000 that were first mentioned in chapter seven.  It is possible that this is taking place after the tribulation is over and John writes about it in this chapter, or it could be that all of these 144,000 have been martyred and this is taking place in the middle of the tribulation period.  At any rate these first five verses of this chapter speak of what the accomplishments of these 144,000 were and it is a tremendous testimony to the Lord.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  This verse in the way that it is presented for these 144,000 believers could never happen to me since I am not born into the Jewish race, however the principles that are here can apply to me if I do the job that the Lord has planned for me to do before the foundations of the world.

The Word of God has challenged my heart as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To continue to trust the Lord to show me the work that I am to do for Him each and every day.
