My Worship Time Focus: Who Are These Prophets?
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Revelations 11:5-6
Message of the verse: “5 And
if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth
their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be
killed. 6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain
not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to
blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.” (AV)
“5 And if anyone wants to harm
them, fire flows out of their mouth and devours their enemies; so if anyone
wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way. 6
These have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall
during the days of their prophesying; and they have power over the waters to
turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as
they desire.” (NAS95)
I suppose
over the years there have been much discussion as to who these two prophets are
as I have heard different people say different things as to who they are. I guess that most of the things that I have
written about this says that they are Moses and Elijah, and there are a couple
of reason as to why this is thought to be.
For one thing the miracles that are described here were done through
these two men, as Moses turned water into blood, along with many other
miracles, and Elijah stopped the rain in Israel for a long time and then was
involved in having fire come down from heaven to burn up a sacrifice and then
he killed all of the prophets of Baal.
There is another reason that some people believe this Moses and Elijah,
and that is that neither of them got to finish their ministry as Moses never
made it into the promised land, and Elijah was taken up into heaven before He
got to finish his ministry, and another then is that if this is Elijah, then he
will be coming just before the Messiah comes, as Jesus Christ will return to
earth shortly after this event. Another
reason that for believing that these wittinesses are Moses and Elijah is that
it was Moses and Elijah who came to visit Jesus on the mount of transfiguration
just before He would go to the cross to die for the sins of the world.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I am sure that it will take a lot of faith to
do the things that these men will do when they arrive on planet earth, faith in
the Lord Jesus Christ to accomplish His will.
The Word of God was challenging to my heart as I read it
this morning.
My Steps of Faith
Today: Continue to trust the Lord,
that he will lead me and guide me in these difficult days of not truly knowing
what it is that He would want us to do regarding where He wants us to go, if
anywhere, and what He wants us to do, and if we will receive the money that
others owe us.
Memory verses for the week:
1Thes. 4:3-5
For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is,
that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each of you know how to possesses
his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion, like the
Gentiles who do not know God;
