My Worship Time Focus: Jacob Fails by Scheming
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Genesis 33:1-2
Message of the verses: “1 Then Jacob lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, Esau was coming, and four hundred men with him. So he divided the children among Leah and Rachel and the two maids. 2 He put the maids and their children in front, and Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph last.”
This phrase in the first part of verse one seems to speak volumes into what is happening with Jacob, the phrase “The Jacob lifted up his eyes and looked.” What Jacob saw was four hundred men coming with Esau, and what Jacob should have seen was the remembrance of what he had seen the night before when he saw the Lord, the Lord who had promised to protect him and to give to his descendents the land where they were living, but Jacob went back to scheming again and did not live by faith.
Jacob put his family in the order of what he cared for them it seems like for he put the maids and their children first then Leah, and last of all Rachel and Joseph, and this would have some very bad affects in the coming years.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I see a lot of Jacob in me in that I know the truth, but on many times I do not act upon that truth and fail the Lord, and this makes me feel soo guilty and at times very depressed.
The Word of God has been challenging and convicting to my heart as I read and studied it this morning.
My Steps of Faith Today: To stand on the promises of God and to continue to seek to learn contentment and to seek the Lord to direct my path.
