Relocation for Joseph's Brothers and Father (Gen. 45:9-13)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 01-26-2008

My Worship Time                                                                              Focus:  Relocation

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Genesis 45:9-13

            Message of the verses:  “9 “Hurry and go up to my father, and say to him, ‘Thus says your son Joseph, "God has made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not delay.  10 “You shall live in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children’s children and your flocks and your herds and all that you have.  11 "There I will also provide for you, for there are still five years of famine to come, and you and your household and all that you have would be impoverished."’

12 “Behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see, that it is my mouth which is speaking to you.  13 "Now you must tell my father of all my splendor in Egypt, and all that you have seen; and you must hurry and bring my father down here.’”

            I would have to believe that it was very hard for these brothers to believe that this really was Joseph after all of the things that had happened to them on their and this was the best place to take care of their flocks and herds.  The brothers must also have thought that this was too good to be true.

            Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I think of salvation from the stand point that it too seems like it is too good to be true, yet Jesus like Joseph invites His family to come unto Him and promises to take care of everyone.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Paul wrote in the last part of his second letter to the Corinthians that it is good to rethink their salvation experience to make sure that they were really in the faith, and they I would suppose that it would also be a good idea that when this is done to praise the Lord for the invitation of salvation.

Memory verses for the week:  Philippians 1:9-11

  1. And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,
  2. so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;
  3. having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes from Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
