Serving the Lord (Rev. 22:12-13)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR

12/09/2005

My Worship Time                  Focus:  Serving the Lord

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Revelation 22:12-13

Message of the verse:  “12  ‘Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.  13  ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.’”
Verse 12 speaks of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, for Jesus says in this verse that He is coming quickly, which I think means that when He comes to claim His bride that it will be a very fast event as spelled out in 1Thes. 4:13-18 where it says in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.  Jesus goes on to say that His reward will be with Him and He will give a reward to every man according to what He has done, and this reminds me of one of His parables that is about a person giving a sum of money to three different people and two of them invested that money and got a big return and one of them hid it and got nothing.  Jesus goes on to explain in verse 13 that He is the beginning and the end, and so He is the One who knows all things and will give help to His children to complete the task that He is giving them to do in order for them to receive His reward that He has for them.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Yesterday I received a phone call from Tim F. who said that there was a pretty good possibility of getting a job in Hawaii, because the man has gotten his loan and can now proceed with the project.  As I look at this in light of verse thirteen I have confidence that God’s perfect will, will be accomplished in this, and I am praying that His will, will be that Tim does receive this job, but if he does not then I also have confidence that the Lord Jesus Christ, for reasons only known to Him at this time, does not want us to have it at this time.

The Word of God was a challenge to my heart and also refreshment as I read and studied it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To continue to trust the Lord as I go through the different trials He has led me into, that His perfect will, will be accomplished in my life that will conform me more and more to the image of His dear Son, and my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
