He Admonished Them (Josh. 22:5)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  He admonished them

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Joshua 22:5

Message of the verses:  “5  ‘Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God and walk in all His ways and keep His commandments and hold fast to Him and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.’”
Joshua is not getting to something that was important for them to be reminded of and that is they were to observe the commandments that came through Moses from the Lord, and one of the most important commandments is to love the Lord their God and to walk in His ways, and this includes the keeping of His commandments.  By doing this they would want to serve Him too.
It may be important for me to write about some of the things that I have recently learned about the Ten Commandments.  Jesus spoke in one of the Gospels to a man who ask Him about the greatest commandments and He told them to Lord the Lord with all of His heart and to love His neighbor as himself.  As you look at the Ten Commandments the first four are about God and the last six are about relationships with people.  The commandments that Joshua reminds these soldiers were to love the Lord and to walk in His ways and this would fulfill the Ten Commandments.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  The things that Joshua told these soldiers are very relevant for me today.  I am to keep the commandments of the Lord and I am to walk in His ways and I am to serve Him each day of my life.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Take off the old and put on the new.
  2. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  3. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
  4. Put on Christ’s yoke in order to be yoked with Him to find rest because of the inheritance that I already have in Him
  5. Continue to learn contentment.
  6. Put on the spiritual armor:  The belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.
