SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  The victory of Joseph

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Judges 1:22-26

Message of the verses:  “22  Likewise the house of Joseph went up against Bethel, and the LORD was with them. 23  The house of Joseph spied out Bethel (now the name of the city was formerly Luz). 24  The spies saw a man coming out of the city and they said to him, "Please show us the entrance to the city and we will treat you kindly." 25  So he showed them the entrance to the city, and they struck the city with the edge of the sword, but they let the man and all his family go free. 26  The man went into the land of the Hittites and built a city and named it Luz which is its name to this day. and upward.”
These verses of victory are in the same paragraph as the defeats of the children of Israel, which will be looked at the next SD.
The two tribes of Joseph got control of the city of Bethel which was an important city because this is where the patriarchs lived and it may have been taken under the leadership of Joshua, but at any rate it now came under the power of the sons of Joseph.  When they came up to the city to attack they asked a man how to get into the city and because of his information they let him go but he did not stay with the children of Israel like Rahab had done.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  When I get a chance to be involved with something of the Lord I should not turn it down as the man in this section did.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Trust the Lord to guide me as to whether or not Sandy and I are to get involved in the product that was introduced to us last night.
