Trials will Come (1 Peter 4:12)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

                                                                                                Date 02-09-04

My Worship Time                                          Focus:  Trails will come

Bible Reading & Meditation                         Reference:  1Peter 4:12

Message of the verse:  “12 ¶ Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;”  (NASB95)  “12 ¶ Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.”  (NLT)
Trials will come upon believers because we are in a war with the unbelieving world.  People can get away with being “religious,” but not with being righteous.  When I use the word religious, I am speaking of coming to God on your own terms, or the terms of a false teaching, and not the true way of coming to God through Jesus Christ alone.  Cain was a religious man, but Able was a righteous man, and that is why Cain killed him.
Peter writes in this verse that fiery trials will come upon those who are righteous, not if they come.  He also says that they will come for our testings, so that means that God is in control of these testings, and if we submit to Him in these trials He will work them out for our good and His glory.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  These trials that come upon my family and me, have all been due to sin in believers lives, for they have not been due to being persecuted because of being righteous, like what Peter is writing about here.  With that said, they are still trials that God has brought into my life, and my families to make us better.

The Word of God was challenging to my heart as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To trust the Lord with the events that took place yesterday.  To thank Him and praise Him for answering our prayers, and to trust Him to use us to do the work of Grace Baptist Church that He will guide us to do for His glory.
