SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Benjamin refuses to confess
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Judges 20:12-17
Message of the verses: “12 ¶
Then the tribes of Israel
sent men through the entire tribe of Benjamin, saying, "What is this
wickedness that has taken place among you? 13
"Now then, deliver up the men, the worthless fellows in Gibeah,
that we may put them to death and remove this wickedness from Israel ."
But the sons of Benjamin would not listen to the voice of their brothers, the
sons of Israel .
14 The sons of Benjamin gathered from
the cities to Gibeah, to go out to battle against the sons of Israel . 15 From the cities on that day the sons of
Benjamin were numbered, 26,000 men who draw the sword, besides the inhabitants
of Gibeah who were numbered, 700 choice men. 16
Out of all these people 700 choice men were left-handed; each one could
sling a stone at a hair and not miss. 17
Then the men of Israel
besides Benjamin were numbered, 400,000 men who draw the sword; all these were
men of war.”
This
section can only be summed up as pride, and the Scriptures say that pride comes
before a fall. Benjamin knows that the
men in their town of Gibeah
did wrong, for the sin of homosexuality is a detestable sin before the Lord,
and that was only one of the sins that were committed by these men. They look out and see 400,000 soldiers ready
to defeat them and they can only muster up 26,000 men so not only do they have
the great odds of not having enough men, but they know that the Lord will
probably not bless them at this time because of their great sin. Be sure that your sin will find you out.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: There
are far too many times in my life when I am stubborn and prideful and so the end
result is that I sin against the Lord, sin that caused my Savior to suffer and
die on the cross to pay for those sins, and this should not be.
My Steps of Faith for
Today:
- I must at all times remember that sin begins in the mind and therefore I need to fight the battle for my mind to keep it pure so that I don’t have to fight the battle outside of my mind where I will have already lost.
- Psalm 139: 23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; 24 And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.”
