SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Ungodly counsel
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Judges 18:3-6
Message of the verses: “3
When they were near the house of Micah, they recognized the voice of the
young man, the Levite; and they turned aside there and said to him, "Who
brought you here? And what are you doing in this place? And what do you have
here?" 4 He said to them,
"Thus and so has Micah done to me, and he has hired me and I have become
his priest." 5 They said to him,
"Inquire of God, please, that we may know whether our way on which we are
going will be prosperous." 6 The
priest said to them, "Go in peace; your way in which you are going has the
LORD’S approval.’”
These
three verses tell the facts of what happened, but you can be sure that Jonathan
was not giving these spies the true counsel of the Lord. Why?
As stated in yesterday’s SD the Lord had set aside land for the tribe of
Dan, but they did not trust the Lord to conquer it and so they were looking for
the easy way. Why would these men even
trust a man who was being paid as a priest by a man because he could not get
another job to answer correctly what the Lord wanted them to do?
Spiritual meaning for my life today: These five spies were looking to prosper at
any cost and that is why they were seeking the advice of this young man. It is kind
of like having a problem and not knowing what the answer to the problem
is and so you just say a short prayer and then open your Bible in a random
place and point your finger to an unknown verse and expect to get an
answer. It doesn’t work that way. Keep reading in the pattern to which you are
reading and then the Lord will show you what He wants to show you as long as
your heart is pure and you are in fellowship with the Lord meaning there is no
unconfessed sin in your life.
My Steps of Faith for Today:
1. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me
and know my anxious thoughts; 24 And see
if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.
