SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                 Focus:  God satisfies the hungry

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                            Reference:  2Kings 4:42-44

Message of the verses:  “42  Now a man came from Baal-shalishah, and brought the man of God bread of the first fruits, twenty loaves of barley and fresh ears of grain in his sack. And he said, "Give them to the people that they may eat." 43  His attendant said, "What, will I set this before a hundred men?" But he said, "Give them to the people that they may eat, for thus says the LORD, ’They shall eat and have some left over.’" 44  So he set it before them, and they ate and had some left over, according to the word of the LORD.”

When the nation of Israel split into two nations the Northern portion which has been called Israel began to worship idols and they did not have a place where they could worship the Lord at His temple so there were some devoted to the Lord who did not go to the Southern kingdom of Judah who would bring their offerings to the sons of the prophet, and this is one of those cases that is seen in today’s Scripture lesson.

The story is a reminder of God’s grace in providing the needs of His people and it also reminds me of when the Lord Jesus Christ was on this earth doing miracles, for he feed 5000 with a few fish and a few loaves of bread and there was much left over just as there was much left over in this story.  David wrote in Psalm 37:25 “I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken Or his descendants begging bread.”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I desire to praise the Lord for the food that He has provided for my family, and for me.  I realize that this is one part of my walk with the Lord that I have not been as thankful of as I should of, and I know in my heart that it is the Lord who does provide the food for us that we eat.  I want to be more thankful to the Lord for His gracious provision of food that He supplies to us.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Be more thankful for the food that the Lord provides for us.

2.      Continue to learn contentment.

3.      I must remember that I am in a Spiritual battle and in need of the Spiritual armor of the Lord.

4.      Give myself to the Lord today for worship and for service.
