SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  Faith & Courage Pt.1

Bible Reading & Meditation                     Reference:  2Ki. 11:2-12; 2Chron.22:11-23:11

Message of the verses:  I am going to just do the first sub-point of this main section.

Protection (verses2Kings 11:2-3; 2Chronicles 22:11-12):  “2  But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him from among the king’s sons who were being put to death, and placed him and his nurse in the bedroom. So they hid him from Athaliah, and he was not put to death.  3  So he was hidden with her in the house of the LORD six years, while Athaliah was reigning over the land.”

“11  But Jehoshabeath the king’s daughter took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons who were being put to death, and placed him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah so that she would not put him to death. 12  He was hidden with them in the house of God six years while Athaliah reigned over the land.”

The person who took the little baby Joash was his aunt, the sister of the king whom Jehu had killed.  She was married to a priest and after they hid this little baby in a room in the king’s house they moved him into the house of the Lord where he grew up for the next six years playing with other children in the house of the Lord and no one knew that he was the king.  This act took much courage and it also took knowledge to realize that God had given a promise to David that his line would bring in the promised Messiah, and little Joash was the last link in that line thanks to a wicked grandmother who would soon be dead.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Courage is something that I need more of; along with knowledge of the Scriptures. “God grant me more courage so that I can live my life for the cause of Christ, and give me more understanding of Your Word so that I can be strong enough to tell others of the goodness of who You are.”

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Begin to have more courage when needed.

2.      Continue to learn contentment.

3.      Remember that I am in a battle and in need of God’s spiritual armor so that I can stand.
