Paul Begins His Charge to Timothy (1 Tim. 6:13)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 6-29-02

My Worship Time                                  Focus:  Paul begins to give Timothy a Charge

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  1Timothy 6:13

Message of the verse:  “13 ¶ I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate.”  Paul charges Timothy, or gives him a forceful order, as the Greek indicates.  The charge is in the presence of God, the God who gives all things.  The charge is also given by the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who gave a good confession before Pontius Pilate, so Paul’s charge was a very serious thing.  The charge is in the next verse.  When Jesus told Pilate the truth of who He was He knew that this would seal His fate of dying on the cross.  However He committed Himself to God who raises the dead, (Col.2: 12.)

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  There are times when it is easier to tell a lie than to tell the truth, however when you tell the truth you commit yourself to God who will work out the details because you tell the truth.  Jesus did this and it cost Him His life, but He committed Himself to God, as I too must do.

The Word of God brought conviction and wonderful truth to me today.

My Steps of Faith Today:  I want to live in a way that I will always tell the truth, and will never be ashamed of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Memory verses for the week:  Romans 5:20,21

Moreover the law entered that the offence might abound.  But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
