Its Ministry is final and complete (Heb. 9:25-28)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 04-28-03

My Worship Time      Focus: 5th Superiority:  Its ministry is final and complete

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Hebrews 9:25-28

Message of the verses:  “25 nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own. 26 Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, 28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.”

This is the title for the last section that includes verses 27 & 28 in this heading that comes from Dr. Wiersbe’s book “Be Complete.”  Verse 26 uses the word “appear” and this speaks of Christ appearing on earth to take care of our sin problem with God.  In verse 24 it speaks of Christ appearing in heaven for us, and in verse 28 Christ will appear again to take us to heaven to be with Him forever.  (Next verse for the diary)

Christ did not enter the tabernacle on earth after His death, but the one in heaven, where He ministers for us as our High Priest.  Verse 25 & 26 teaches us that Christ did not have to die many times to accomplish payment for our sins, but only once.  The earthly high priest went into the temple on a yearly basis to offer a sacrifice of an animal to cover the sins, not take it away as Christ did.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I liked studying these three aspects of our salvation that had the word “appear or appearing” in them to show them to me.  All of theses had to happen in order for my salvation to be complete and this all had to be planed out by God in eternity past.  Jesus Christ is so much more than my Savior, as He is My Lord, my God, and my Eternal High Priest.

The Word of God was very refreshing to me as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith today:  I am thankful to God for the messages that He has given to me through the “Left Behind” e-mails that I am receiving each day.  I have been praying that God would give me more courage all of this month and that is what this weeks e-mails are about from Left Behind, what a wonderful God I serve who answers my prayers.  I continue to step out on faith about these two aspects of Christ to be made more evident in my life, and that is to be more like Christ in the area of courage and compassion, and to have less selfishness and less fear.  To give the problem of IBS to the Lord each day that He may use it to bring glory to Himself and for my good.

Memory verses for the week:  Psalm 40:9-12, & 1John 4:18
