SPIRITUAL
DIARY FOR 05-07-03
My
Worship Time: Focus: Our perfect, Becoming
Holy
Bible
Reading & Meditation Reference: Hebrews 10:13-14
Message
of the verse: “13 Since that time he
waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, 14 because by one sacrifice he
has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” (NIV)
“Their he waits until his enemies are humbled as a footstool under his
feet. For by that one offering he
perfected forever all those whom he is making holy.” (NLT)
The end of
verse thirteen is a quote from Psalm 110:1, and it is a Psalm of David, which
speaks of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, who after He had accomplished victory for
sinners on the cross went to heaven where He is now sitting at His Fathers
right hand and He will not return to earth until after the seven year
tribulation in which His Father will accomplish this task that is written about
here. (See Phil. 2:10) Verse fourteen speaks of the different parts
of the process involved in sanctification.
There are three parts to this process and this verse speaks of two of
them. It says in this verse that of one
sacrifice we as believers are made perfect and are being made holy. We have a perfect standing before God because
of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, and while we are still here on
earth we are continually being made holy by God as He, in the person of the
Holy Spirit who lives within us, uses things like The Word of God,
circumstances, the preaching of the Word, and other things to continually
conform us more and more to be like Jesus Christ, and this is called continuing
sanctification.
Spiritual
meaning for my life today: I would
like to quote part of the verse note from the NLT “Life Application Study
Bible” on verse fourteen for this part of my diary. “We should not be
surprised, ashamed, or shocked that we still need to grow. God is not finished with us. We can encourage this growth process by
deliberately applying Scripture to all areas of our life, by accepting the discipline
and guidance Christ provides, and by giving Him control of our desires and
goals.”
The Word of God provided a very big challenge for me as I
read it this morning.
My
Steps of Faith Today: I
must trust the Lord to meet this challenge that I have been informed of for the
lesson today, and from the quotation above.
