God Works (Rev. 2:19)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 02/28/2005

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  Good works

Bible Reading & Meditation                         Reference:  Revelations 2:19

Message of the verse:  19 ‘I know your deeds, and your love and faith and service and perseverance, and that your deeds of late are greater than at first.  (NAS95)  19  I know what you have done. I know of your love and your loyalty, your service and your endurance. Moreover, I know that you are doing more than you did at first.  (Philips)

It seems that Christ is saying that you started out slow, but have now picked up on your work for the Lord, and these deeds that you are doing are done out of faith and not from “religious activity.”  Indeed Christ had many good things to say in this verse about this church, however the in the verses to follow He has much to say about the things that He disapproved about them doing.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I know that Christ sees all, the good deeds that I do in faith, and also the sins that I commit and do not confess to Him.  Christ is the Lord and Head over the Church, and He will continue to judge it until He takes the Church home with Him someday.  I can also learn from this verse that the good works must be done in faith, and not just religious activity.

The Word of God was challenging to me this morning as I read it.

My Steps of Faith Today:  Continue to trust the Lord to guide me and direct me in the things that Sandy and I should be doing for Him.  Continue to listen for the Holy Spirit Words to me, and continue to trust the Lord.
