Lissten to Overcome (Rev. 3:21-22)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 04/08/2005

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  Listen to overcome

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Revelations 3:21-22

Message of the verse:  “He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”  (NAS95)  “I will invite everyone who is victorious to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.  Anyone who is willing to hear should listen to the Spirit and understand what the Spirit is saying to the churches.”  (NLT)

For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?  This comes from 1Peter 4:17 and this verse speaks volumes about the second and third chapters of Revelations, because it is there where Christ is giving marching orders to His Church.  At the end of this section where Christ has been talking to the church at Laodicea He tells them the same thing that He has told the other churches, and that is that the overcomers will be with Him and that the church is to have it’s Spiritual ears open so that they can hear and understand what the Spirit has to say to them.  This letter is not only for their benefit, but for all who read it and take to heart the Words that Christ has spoken to all of these seven churches.  It is very possible that these churches were written in a special order so that they would describe the Church throughout the Church age, and if that is the case the dominant church of the age that is going on now is the Laodicean church, but that does not mean that there are not any of the other types around now, just that the dominant one is Laodicea.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  As stated yesterday in my SD I have learned much from this study of the churches in Revelations, and the Lord has shown me new things from these verses that have meant much to me.  One of those things is to have my Spiritual ears open so that I can understand what the Spirit is saying to me each and every day of my life, and most of the time I get that from the reading and studying of His Word, and thus this shows the importance of doing this each and every day of my life.

The Word of God has been refreshing to my heart as I read and studied it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To continue to trust in the Lord with all of my heart, and lean not upon my own understanding, so that in all of my ways I will acknowledge Him and then He will continue to direct my path.
