The Father's Throne (Rev. 4:2)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 04/10/2005

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  The Father’s Throne

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Revelations 4:2

Message of the verse:  “At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.”  (NIV)  “And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it!”  (NLT)

In verse one John was transferred to heaven, and now he says that he was in the Spirit, and this is the second time John has used this term the other time was in the first chapter of Revelations, where he said that he was “in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day.”  John was completely controlled by the Holy Spirit.  The first thing that John saw was a throne in heaven and he saw someone sitting on this throne.  A throne certainly represents power and the One who was sitting on this throne has absolute power over all things for He is the Creator of all things.  This is the throne of God the Father and John had a difficult time describing this scene using human language so he would use similes and metaphors to describe it.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I would imagine that the first thing that John wanted to do was to fall on His face and worship the Heavenly Father who was seated on His throne after he saw Him.  The book of Revelations has much to say about worship and how true worship is actually going on in heaven all of the time.  God has made me to worship Him and the more I read about Him, and the more that I learn about Him the more desire I have to worship Him more and more, and also to know that worshiping the Lord should be at the center of everything I do.

The Word of God was refreshing to my heart as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To continue to learn more about the Lord so that I can worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
