Isaac and Rebekah (Gen. 25:19-20)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 11/02/2006

My Worship Time                                                                         Focus:  Isaac & Rebekah

Bible Reading & Meditation                                    Reference:  Genesis 25:19-20

Message of the verse:  “19 Now these are the records of the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham became the father of Isaac; 20  and Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Aramean, to be his wife.”

These verses follow the verses that were talking about Ishmael, as was mentioned in yesterday’s SD, and that is that the godly line follows the ungodly line in the book of Genesis.

Times were much different then, yet the same God who ruled then is still ruling now.  It was God who chose Rebekah to be the wife of Isaac and she seems to be a good fit for Isaac, for he was a bit more laid back than his father and certainly his children who would be born to him.  It must also be remembered that Isaac was a willing sacrifice back in Genesis 22, and I am sure that remained with him through out his 187 years of life on planet earth.

It is only the greatness of God in dealing with this sinful race of human beings that allow any of us to ever do anything worthwhile, and so it was in the case of Isaac and Rebekah.  God had a plan for these two, just as He has a plan for all of His children, and even though these two seemed to be remembered more than others, God knows all of His children.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I truly believe that it is God who choose Sandy to be my wife and become the father of Kim and Dave, and one of the reasons that I believe this is that both of them are saved and therefore have their names in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and that is the best that it can get.

The Word of God has been a refreshing reminder of the Awesomeness of God.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To continue to ask the Lord to direct my path and also to teach me contentment.
