My
Worship Time Focus: God’s promise
of forgiveness to all
Bible
Reading & Meditation Reference: Hebrews 8:11-12
Message of the verse: “AND THEY SHALL NOT TEACH EVERYONE HIS FELLOW
CITIZEN, AND EVERYONE HIS BROTHER, SAYING, 'KNOW THE LORD,' FOR ALL SHALL KNOW
ME, FROM THE LEAST TO THE GREATEST OF THEM.
FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL TO THEIR INIQUITIES, AND I WILL REMEMBER THEIR
SINS NO MORE.” (NASB) “And they will not need to teach their
neighbors, nor will they need to teach their family, saying, ‘You should know
the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least
to the greatest, will already know me.
And I will forgive their wrongdoings, and I will never again remember
their sins.” (NLT)
Although
these verses do have application to the Church era today they were written for
the millennial kingdom when all these things will be fulfilled. The difference is than not everyone knows the
Lord in the Church era, as many worship different gods, and thus many do not
know the Lord. It is the privilege of
those in the Church to give the good news of the gospel to others. The phrase in verse 12 that says “I will
remember their sins no more,” literally means that God will not hold our sing
against us, and the reason for that is that Jesus Christ was help accountable
for our sins while He was on the cross.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: As I think about the cross and remember that
it was there that my salvation was paid for, then I can only give thanks to the
Lord for the great and wonderful love that He has for me and proved that love
through Christ’s death on the cross.
Again as I think about the cross I believe that Jesus Christ was not
dying in the sense of a person dying from an illness, rather He was having the
wrath of Almighty God poured out on Him for the sins of the world, and when
that was complete Christ gave up His life, for He said no man takes his life,
but He will lay it down. He most
certainly suffered more than any man has ever suffered, but He gave up His life
willingly for me, and that is the greatest act of love ever given.
The Word of God spoke to my heart richly today as I studied
and meditated on it.
My
Steps of Faith Today: To
live with more courage and more compassion today.
Memory verses for the week:
Psalm 40:4-9
4.
How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, And
has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood.
5.
Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which Thou hast done,
and Thy thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with Thee; If I would
declare and speak of them they would be too numerous to count.
6.
Sacrifice and meal offering Thou hast not desired; My ears
Thou hast opened; Burnt offering and sin offering Thou hast not required.
7.
Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it
is written of me;
8.
I delight to do Thy will O my God; Thy Law is within my
heart.
9.
I have proclaimed glade tidings of righteousness in the
great congregation; Behold I will not restrain my lips, O LORD Thou knowest.
