Adam's Need

01/24/2006

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                  Focus:  Adam’s need

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Genesis 2:18-20

Message of the verse:  “18 Then the LORD God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.’  19  Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.  20  The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him.”

At the end of the sixth day of creation God said that is was very good, and now in the beginning of this verse God said that it was not good for man to be alone.  In verses 19 & 20 there is a recap of creation of the animals and then Adam looks at all of them and gives them all a name, and these names were not just like the names people give their pets today, but these names gave the meaning of what the animal was, so this would show the great intelligence of Adam.  After looking at all of the animals, and I am sure that Adam noticed that there was a male and female of every type of animal, he soon discovered that there was no female for him to be his helper, to compliment him.

Do I think that this was an oversight on God’s part not to make a female helper for Adam?  It is impossible for God to make a mistake, so it is possible that God wanted the man to discover this for himself, as I am sure that he did.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Just as God had made all things to meet the needs of the first man, even now today God meets all of my needs in this sin cursed world.  I am thankful that it is impossible for God to ever make a mistake.

The Word of God has been challenging to my heart as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To continue to trust the Lord to direct my path, to teach me contentment so that whatever the Lord sends my way I will be able to handle it because I know He is with me and will never forsake me.
