SPIRITUAL DAIRY
My Worship Time Focus: Enosh, Part of the Godly Remnant
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Genesis 4:26; 5:6-11
Message of the verses: “26 When Seth grew up, he had a son and named him Enosh. It was during his lifetime that people first began to worship the LORD.
“6 When Seth was 105 years old, his son Enosh was born.
7 After the birth of Enosh, Seth lived another 807 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 8 He died at the age of 912. 9 When Enosh was 90 years old, his son Kenan was born. 10 After the birth of Kenan, Enosh lived another 815 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 11 He died at the age of 905.”
Verse 26 of Genesis chapter four is a remarkable verse, in that it took so long for men to begin to worship the Lord again. Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born and Seth was 105 years old when Enosh was born.
Enosh’s name means man, but not just man but a frail man, a man who can look at his condition as being frail. God can use frail people because they are not proud, thinking that they can do things on their own apart from God’s strength helping them.
There was now a remnant on the earth that began to worship the Lord, to call out to Him and to pray to Him. God always has a remnant of believers on this earth as seen in the Scriptures, and usually the remnant is small, but that does not matter because small in the hand of God becomes powerful.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I thank God that I am part of the remnant that has been chosen by Him, and I would like to continue to trust the Lord and be ready to serve Him in a way that He wants me to serve, for if I choose not to be humble before Him and draw on His strength and power then I will become worthless in serving Him.
The Word of God has challenged my heart as I read and studied it this morning.
My Steps of Faith Today: Continue to trust the Lord with the problem of our finances, and continue to trust the Lord to direct our path and to teach me contentment.
