My
Worship Time Focus: A declaration of God
Bible
Reading & Meditation Reference: Hebrews 7:17
- Message of the verse: “17
For it is witnessed of Him, ‘THOU ART A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE
ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK.’” (NASB) “And the Psalmist pointed this out when
he said of Christ, ‘You are a priest forever in the line of
Melchizedek.’” (NLT)
This quotation if
from Psalm 110:4 and it is a declaration of God about Jesus Christ being a
Priest after the order of Melchizedek.
The question has been asked and answered as to why this was necessary,
and the next verse will also go into the answer, which is that the old
priesthood was not a priesthood that would last forever because of the weakness
of it. However as this verse states this
Priesthood is forever because the eternal Son of God is the One who is the High
Priest. I also believe that it is
suggested in the Scriptures that we believers are priests, for we to can make
intercession to Go on behalf of others.
- Spiritual meaning for my life:
I indeed count it a wonderful privilege to have such a perfect High
Priest who lives forever and who also knows everything that I am going
through in my life. I also count it
a privilege to be able to intercede for others to God, and to be able to
come directly to the throne of God with my petitions and prayers.
The Word of God was
instructive and refreshing to me as I read it this morning.
My Steps of Faith Today: It seems that every
day this week I have had a challenge with IBS and today is no exception for I
am suppose to go to EMH to exercise and then to the doctor, and then to the
Bible study at Jim’s house. I surely
need the grace of God to see me through this day, as I need each and every day.
Memory verses for the
week: Psalm 40:1-5
1.
I waited patiently for the LORD: And He inclined to me and
heard my cry.
2.
He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the
miry clay; And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.
3.
And He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our
God; Many will see and fear, And will trust in the LORD.
4.
How blessed it the man who has made the LORD his trust, And
has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood.
5.
Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which Thou hast done,
And thy thoughts toward us; There is none to compare to Thee; If I would
declare and speak of them they would be too numerous to count.
