God's Grace Demonstrated (Rev. 7:13-14)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 05/25/2005

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  God’s Grace Demonstrated

Bible Reading & Meditation                         Reference:  Revelations 7:13-14

Message of the verse:  “13 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, ‘These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?’  14  I said to him, ‘My lord, you know.’ And he said to me, ‘These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.’”

God’s grace is demonstrated in these verses, as the one’s being spoken of here are believers who have been given salvation during the tribulation period and stood up for the cause of Christ, and because of that they were martyred for their faith, but now they are in heaven about to receive their reward for being faithful to God.

John did not realize where these saints came from, as seen by his answer from one of the twenty-four elders.  The elder tells John who these people were and goes on to speak of their salvation when saying that they had their white robes washed in the blood of the Lamb.  He also says that they have come out of the great tribulation, and some authors that I have read have said that this meant the last half of the tribulation period, or the last three and one have years of it.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  These believers who are identified here had probably gone through some very, very rough times while they were on the earth, yet the faithfulness of God’s promises of never leaving them nor forsaking them is seen in the scene that is seen here.  Earth is not my home, I am just a passing through, my home is laid up somewhere beyond the blue, and that is how the hymn writer spoke of his life here on planet earth.

The Word of God was both refreshing and a challenge to my soul as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  Trust the Lord to see me through this colon process that I have to prepare for today, as I take the medicine to get cleaned out in order to have the process done tomorrow.
