Sealing of God's People (Rev. 7:2)

SPIRTUAL DIARY FOR 05/19/2005

My Worship Time                                                           Focus:  Sealing of God’s People

Bible Reading & Meditation                                 Reference:  Revelations 7:2

Message of the verse:  “And I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God; and he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, saying, ‘Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads.’”

These two verses (1 & 2),  speak of God sealing His people for a specific job that He has for them, and because they are sealed by God this could very well mean that they will be protected from the plagues that are about to come upon the earth.

In Ephesians 1:13-14 Paul speaks of the believers being sealed by the Holy Spirit when they are born into the family of God, and this sealing means that they will go to heaven when their work on this earth is done.  “In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.”

Being sealed by the Holy Spirit means ownership, ownership by God because Christ paid the price to redeem all who believe in Him for their salvation.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Some may think that they do not want to be owned by the Lord, but that to me is a great privilege for who could take better care of me that the Lord Jesus Christ who suffered and died for my sins in order that I might have eternal life in the very presence of God.

The Word of God was a refreshing reminder to me of being in the family of God.

My Steps of Faith Today:  Trust in the Lord with all of my heart, and lean not upon my own understanding, in all of my ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct my path.

Memory verses for the week:  Ephesians 6:12 & 13

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore, take up the full armor of God so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
