SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                          Focus:  From Adullam to Moab

Bible Reading & Meditation                         Reference:  1Samuel 22:3-4a

Message of the verses:  “3  And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, "Please let my father and my mother come and stay with you until I know what God will do for me." 4  Then he left them with the king of Moab.”
David wanted to make sure that his parents were safe from what Saul was going to do to them, for if Saul could have got his hands on David’s parents then he could have used them as hostages or even killed them, so this may have been in David’s thinking as he did this.
David’s great-grandmother came from Moab, Ruth came back with Naomi and her story is told in the book of Ruth.  The Moabites were people descended from Abraham’s nephew Lot through an incestuous relationship with Lot’s oldest daughter and had been enemies of the people of Israel, but perhaps because David actually had Moabite blood that the king decided to house his parents.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I have to confess that I have not done such a good job in taking care of my mom as my sisters have done most of her care and have done a great job in doing this.  I suppose that I have done better in the help of Sandy’s parents and now with her dad as we just spent the day with him making sure that he was able to get a good car to drive after his broke down.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.       Things are not good on the home front or at the church I attend and even in my personal life things are not good as I struggle to do these devotions each day, so I don’t know what to write here.
