SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  God’s holy jealousy

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  1Ki. 14:21-24

Message of the verses:  “21 ¶  Now Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen from all the tribes of Israel to put His name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess. 22  Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked Him to jealousy more than all that their fathers had done, with the sins which they committed. 23  For they also built for themselves high places and sacred pillars and Asherim on every high hill and beneath every luxuriant tree. 24  There were also male cult prostitutes in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD dispossessed before the sons of Israel.”

The story of Judah and idolatry began again with the latter stages of Solomon’s reign, and then when Rehoboam became king he followed the Lord for three years, and then after he was established as king he became to serve other gods and thus idolatry started up again in Judah.

In verse twenty-two the author speaks of God being a jealous God, and this refers to God being married to the nation of Israel, and now Israel, including Judah began to play the harlot on the Lord, thus making Him jealous.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  God is also jealous with the Church when she commits adultery against the Lord, for the Church is the bride of Christ and thanks to the grace of God I am a member of the Church.

Whenever I sin I break fellowship with the Lord, and this is not good, and I do not want this to happen.

Again I am laid up due to (this time) an injury, and I surely need the wisdom of the Lord to see what the next step is in the process.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.       Trust the Lord to give me wisdom concerning how this injury is to be handled.

2.      Continue to learn contentment.

3.      Seek the Lord to direct my path.
