SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: The message
Bible Reading
& Meditation Reference: 1Kings 13:1-2
Message of the verses: “1 ¶
Now behold, there came a man of God from Judah to Bethel by the word of
the LORD, while Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense. 2 He cried against the altar by the word of the
LORD, and said, "O altar, altar, thus says the LORD, ’Behold, a son shall
be born to the house of David, Josiah by name; and on you he shall sacrifice
the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and human bones shall
be burned on you.’"
These
are very interesting verses to say the least, for the prophet is not even
mentioned by name and he doesn’t talk to Jeroboam, but to the altar that
Jeroboam was burning incense on.
Jeroboam had a chance to become a great king in the nation of Israel,
the ten tribes in the north, but instead he chose to bring idolatry into the
nation and now this unknown prophet tells the altar that one day a godly king
by the name of Josiah would come and burn human bones on this altar.
Jeroboam
did not have the right, according to the Law of Moses, to act as a priest, for
he was a king and he did not come from the priestly line of Aaron. There would only be one King who would be a
King, and that of course is the Lord Jesus Christ. Both Jeremiah and Ezekiel would become
prophets and priests at the same time, but only Jesus Christ would be King and
Prophet and King. By the grace of God
all believers are kings and priests according to Revelations 1:6; and are of
the royal priesthood according to 1Peter 2:9.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I want to think about being a priest for the
Lord, and being able to pray for, not only myself, but to intercede for others
as well, as this is a great privilege to have.
My Steps of
Faith for Today:
1.
Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
2.
Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
3.
Remember that I am in a spiritual battle and in need
of the spiritual armor.
