SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  He lost his respect for his parents

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Judges 14:1-4

Message of the verses:  “1 ¶  Then Samson went down to Timnah and saw a woman in Timnah, one of the daughters of the Philistines. 2  So he came back and told his father and mother, "I saw a woman in Timnah, one of the daughters of the Philistines; now therefore, get her for me as a wife." 3  Then his father and his mother said to him, "Is there no woman among the daughters of your relatives, or among all our people, that you go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?" But Samson said to his father, "Get her for me, for she looks good to me." 4  However, his father and mother did not know that it was of the LORD, for He was seeking an occasion against the Philistines. Now at that time the Philistines were ruling over Israel.”

In many of Warren Wiersbe’s commentary he writes:  “When God is not permitted to rule in our lives He overrules and works out His will in spite of our decisions.”  He goes on to say that we are eventually the losers for God still gets done what He wants to get done, but the misfortune is that we are not credited for the victory.

With this been said I think that Samson could get done what God wanted him to get done in a way that would he would have followed the Law of the Lord and obeyed his parents.

Samson was breaking many of the commandments by doing what he wanted to do, for he was looking out for himself, and not the will of the Lord.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Doing things in the will of the Lord is not always the easiest at the time, but God will give grace to me when I decided to follow His will and a big part of that is keeping His commandments, for by doing that I am loving the Lord Jesus Christ.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Trust and obey for there is no other way, to be happy in Jesus is to trust and obey.
