SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                              Focus:  False Witness

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  1Kings 21:5-10

Message of the verses:    5 ¶  But Jezebel his wife came to him and said to him, "How is it that your spirit is so sullen that you are not eating food?" 6  So he said to her, "Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him, ’Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you a vineyard in its place.’ But he said, ’I will not give you my vineyard.’" 7  Jezebel his wife said to him, "Do you now reign over Israel? Arise, eat bread, and let your heart be joyful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite." 8  So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name and sealed them with his seal, and sent letters to the elders and to the nobles who were living with Naboth in his city. 9  Now she wrote in the letters, saying, "Proclaim a fast and seat Naboth at the head of the people; 10  and seat two worthless men before him, and let them testify against him, saying, ’You cursed God and the king.’ Then take him out and stone him to death.’”

I want to point out the commandment that is being broken here, which is bearing false witness, and that is the ninth commandment.  Dr. Wiersbe writes the following “Truth is the cement that holds society together, and when truth is gone, everything starts to fall apart (Isa. 59:14).”  “Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands far away; For truth has stumbled in the street, And uprightness cannot enter.”

I have outlined a portion of the Scripture that is today’s text and it is a question that Jezebel asks her husband Ahab, and the answer to that question is “no” for it is God who is the One who rules over Israel.  A good leader always realizes that he is second in command, and that goes for leaders of countries and also any other leader and that is a good thing to remember.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I must realize that a good leader always realizes that he is second in command.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Trust the Lord to guide my path today.

2.      I trust the Lord with the buying of this car that even though I am the leader of this household I realize that I am second in command.

3.      Remember that I am in a spiritual battle, and in need of the spiritual armor.
