SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                              Focus:  The promise

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  1Kings 20:13-21

Message of the verses:  “13  Now behold, a prophet approached Ahab king of Israel and said, "Thus says the LORD, ’Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver them into your hand today, and you shall know that I am the LORD.’" 14  Ahab said, "By whom?" So he said, "Thus says the LORD, ’By the young men of the rulers of the provinces.’" Then he said, "Who shall begin the battle?" And he answered, "You." 15  Then he mustered the young men of the rulers of the provinces, and there were 232; and after them he mustered all the people, even all the sons of Israel, 7,000. 16  They went out at noon, while Ben-hadad was drinking himself drunk in the temporary shelters with the thirty-two kings who helped him. 17  The young men of the rulers of the provinces went out first; and Ben-hadad sent out and they told him, saying, "Men have come out from Samaria." 18  Then he said, "If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive." 19  So these went out from the city, the young men of the rulers of the provinces, and the army which followed them. 20  They killed each his man; and the Arameans fled and Israel pursued them, and Ben-hadad king of Aram escaped on a horse with horsemen. 21  The king of Israel went out and struck the horses and chariots, and killed the Arameans with a great slaughter.”

I would suppose that you have to give credit where credit is due, and Ahab did listen to the Word of the Lord that came to him through a prophet, and that word was that the Lord would use Ahab and his army to defeat Ben-hadad and his army.  Ahab did what the prophet told him to do, which was the Word of the Lord and he defeated Ben-hadad and so Ben-hadad had to run for his life on his horse in order not to be killed.  The Lord would use Ben-hadad latter on.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I believe that the Word of the God teaches that what the Lord does he does for His glory, and in the case of Ahab defeating the Syrian army for God used the awful king Ahab to do this because of His great name and because of His promise to Israel.

The Word of God is powerful, “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”  I surely need to follow the Word of God.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Give myself to the Lord for worship and service today.

2.      Continue to learn contentment.

3.      Trust the Lord to direct my path today.

4.      Put on the spiritual armor.

5.      Remember the Word of God, and follow it.  3/17/2011 5:41:47 AM
