SPIRITIUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Defeat and captivity
Bible Reading
& Meditation Reference: 1Ki. 8:46-53; 2Chron. 6:36-39
Message of the verses: “46
"When they sin against You (for there is no man who does not sin)
and You are angry with them and deliver them to an enemy, so that they take
them away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near; 47 if they take thought in the land where they have
been taken captive, and repent and make supplication to You in the land of
those who have taken them captive, saying, ’We have sinned and have committed
iniquity, we have acted wickedly’; 48 if
they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of
their enemies who have taken them captive, and pray to You toward their land
which You have given to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and the
house which I have built for Your name; 49
then hear their prayer and their supplication in heaven Your dwelling
place, and maintain their cause, 50 and
forgive Your people who have sinned against You and all their transgressions
which they have transgressed against You, and make them objects of compassion
before those who have taken them captive, that they may have compassion on them
51 (for they are Your people and Your
inheritance which You have brought forth from Egypt, from the midst of the iron
furnace), 52 Reto them whenever they
call to You. 53 "For You have
separated them from all the peoples of the earth as Your inheritance, as You
spoke through Moses Your servant, when You brought our fathers forth from
Egypt, O Lord GOD.’”
“36 "When they sin against You (for there is
no man who does not sin) and You are angry with them and deliver them to an
enemy, so that they take them away captive to a land far off or near, 37 if they take thought in the land where they
are taken captive, and repent and make supplication to You in the land of their
captivity, saying, ’We have sinned, we have committed iniquity and have acted
wickedly’; 38 if they return to You with
all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where
they have been taken captive, and pray toward their land which You have given
to their fathers and the city which You have chosen, and toward the house which
I have built for Your name, 39 then hear
from heaven, from Your dwelling place, their prayer and supplications, and
maintain their cause and forgive Your people who have sinned against You.”
Again
it can be seen that Solomon had great understanding of the OT Scriptures and
was actually praying them back to the Lord such as Daniel did in the 9th
chapter of his writings, for that 9th chapter of Daniel actually
tells what happened as a result of sin that Solomon is praying about in this
section of his prayer.
Israel
had much light from the Lord and with much light comes much responsibility of
which they had failed to keep the Law and thus the events of the conditional
covenant would fall on them as they would go into captivity latter on. Israel went in 722 BC, while Judah went from
605-586 BC, captured by the Babylonians.
It
is said of Psalm 132 that it was written when Solomon dedicated the temple and
brought the ark of God into the temple for the first time.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: The thing that I take out of this section,
and there are many different things here, is that Solomon prayed back Scripture
to the Lord just as Daniel did in the 9th chapter of Daniel. This is an element of an intercessory prayer,
and this is one thing that I need to practice in my walk with the Lord.
My Steps of
Faith for Today:
1.
Remember the truths of Scripture in order to pray
them back to the Lord in my time of need.
Putting on the Sword of the Spirit is actually part of this.
2.
Continue to learn contentment.
3.
Give myself to the Lord for worship and service
today.
4.
Seek the Lord to direct my path this day.
5.
Trust the Lord to get me to work this morning
without any IBS problems.
6.
Seek the wisdom of the Lord to purchase or to buy a
car while here in Kauai.
