SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Armies in battle
Bible Reading
& Meditation Reference: 1Ki.
8:44-45; 2Chron. 6:34-35
Message of the verses: “44
"When Your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever
way You shall send them, and they pray to the LORD toward the city which You
have chosen and the house which I have built for Your name, 45 then hear in heaven their prayer and their
supplication, and maintain their cause.”
“34 "When Your people go out to battle
against their enemies, by whatever way You shall send them, and they pray to
You toward this city which You have chosen and the house which I have built for
Your name, 35 then hear from heaven their
prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.”
Whenever the
Lord sent out the children of Israel into battle it was a holy war, and there
was a certain procedure for them to follow that was set up in the OT law. Solomon reminds the people who hear this
prayer that they are to pray towards the temple that he had constructed for the
glory of the Lord. This was not like a
good luck charm, but this is where the glory of the Lord dwelt and so that is
why they would look towards the temple and pray.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: The temple of the Lord in the dispensation
that I live in is the body of the believers, and the entire Body of Christ, the
Church. The Holy Spirit lives within me
and all true believers in order to teach me truths from His Word, and to guide
me on the path He has planned for me to go.
One of the things that I am in need of doing each day to be protected
from my enemy is to put on Jesus Christ by putting on the Spiritual armor that
is spoken of in Ephesians six. One of
the articles that is easy to miss is prayer and that is what Solomon is praying
about in this brief section of his prayer.
Prayer is essential in my life for it is how I commune with the Lord and
one of the ways that He communicates with me.
My Steps of
Faith for Today:
1.
Put on the Lord Jesus Christ by putting on the
Spiritual Armor.
2.
Continue to learn contentment.
3.
Trust the Lord to guide me today, and to see me
through this day’s work that He has called me to.
4.
Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
