SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  (1) Justice in the land

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  1Kings 8:31-32; 2Chron. 6:22-23

Message of the verses:  “31  "If a man sins against his neighbor and is made to take an oath, and he comes and takes an oath before Your altar in this house, 32  then hear in heaven and act and judge Your servants, condemning the wicked by bringing his way on his own head and justifying the righteous by giving him according to his righteousness.”

“21  "Listen to the supplications of Your servant and of Your people Israel when they pray toward this place; hear from Your dwelling place, from heaven; hear and forgive. 22  "If a man sins against his neighbor and is made to take an oath, and he comes and takes an oath before Your altar in this house, 23  then hear from heaven and act and judge Your servants, punishing the wicked by bringing his way on his own head and justifying the righteous by giving him according to his righteousness.”

As I look back on the history of the country that I live in there was more of an attempt to bring about justice in a quicker fashion than there is at this time it its history.  This was true of the nation of Israel, for when these words were written in Solomon’s time justice was brought about quickly as was stated in the Law of God.  Later on when there were corrupt kings in the land this was not so.

It is not stated how the decision was made in order to find out the innocence or guilt of the person who came to the temple, but there was some way to make this possible.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Sandy and I are embarking on a new adventure in the 50th state, and this is the first day that we are living here for what we understand could be up to one year.  I am looking forward to see what the Lord has in store for us while living here.  I am wondering in my heart as to why it was that He chose us to come here at this time in our lives.  I am thankful for this opportunity and one to have a good time while living here and want to serve the Lord while living here just as I wanted to serve Him while living in Ohio.

Now back to the importance of today’s verses.  When it come to justice and my salvation it had to be done through the cross, for I did not have a leg to stand on when it came to being justified before a wholly God.  Jesus Christ took my sins upon Himself and paid for them while on the cross.  He satisfied the wrath of an angry God and at the same time gave me His righteousness in exchange for my sinfulness. Just as I do not deserve to be here in Kauai (in a much lesser degree) I do not deserve to be a child of God, but I am and I am thankful for God’s grace, mercy, goodness, love, righteousness, and many other things that it took in order to save me.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Trust the Lord to produce joy in my heart in spite of all circumstances that I go through.

2.      Give myself to the Lord for worship and service today.

3.      Continue to learn contentment.

4.      Seek to serve the Lord today in the power of His Holy Spirit.

5.      Remember that I am in a battle and in need of putting on the armor of God in order to stand.
