SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                          Focus: The goodness and faithfulness of God

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  1Kings 8:14-21

Bible Reading & Meditation:  “14  Then the king faced about and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel was standing. 15  He said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David and has fulfilled it with His hand, saying, 16  ’Since the day that I brought My people Israel from Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house that My name might be there, but I chose David to be over My people Israel.’ 17  "Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel. 18  "But the LORD said to my father David, ’Because it was in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it was in your heart. 19  ’Nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who will be born to you, he will build the house for My name.’ 20  "Now the LORD has fulfilled His word which He spoke; for I have risen in place of my father David and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel. 21  "There I have set a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD, which He made with our fathers when He brought them from the land of Egypt.’”

This small section of Scripture shows that God is good and that God is faithful, so in a sense this small section is kind of a microcosm of all of Scripture.  I realize that there are many more attributes that God has, and yet in this section we see God keeps all of His promises, for He cannot lie, and God is good, for He cannot do anything evil, for that would be out of character for Him.

God promised David that his son would build a temple that would glorify the Lord.  Solomon did as he was told and built a great temple that would glorify the Lord.  God was good in doing this.  God also promised David that Messiah would come through his line and He was faithful in making this happen.  God was extremely good in doing this, for because of His goodness and faithfulness in bringing Messiah into the world many people have come to know Him as Savior and Lord of their lives, and I am one of them, for God is good and God is faithful.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  God’s goodness and faithfulness did not stop at my conversion for the apostle Paul wrote that if God did all of this when I was His enemy, then how much more will He do since I am now His child, for His goodness and faithfulness will continue throughout eternity.  Praise the Lord for His goodness and faithfulness.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Continue to trust the Lord to direct my path, and even though trials come Christ will give me the strength to go through the trials in victory, and glory to the Lord.

2.      Trust the Lord to give me the grace that I need this day to be used of Him
