Do Not Argue (2 Tim. 2:16)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 8-02-02

My Worship Time                                                                 Focus:  Don’t argue

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                          Reference:  2Timothy 2:16

Message of the verse:  “But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.”

Paul is again warning Timothy on this subject of idle talk.  I think that he is speaking about arguing with false teachers, however this principle is good for all conversations that believers have.  He speaks in another letter about saying things that are uplifting and edifying to believers.  Pastor Burns has said when you talk make sure it is kind, necessary, and uplifting. (?)  Paul’s point that it is not necessary to argue with false teachers for it will do you no good, and it could possibly do you harm.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I can always use the information that is in this verse and others like it, for I do argue too much with Sandy, and if I did not do it we would get along better.

The Word of God brought much needed conviction to me today.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To get along well with Sandy, and to have prayer time with her tonight.

Memory verse for the week:  1Timothy 6:9

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
