To Be Used of God (2 Tim. 2:20-21)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 8-6-02

My Worship Time                                                      Focus: To be used of God

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  2Timothy 2:20-21

Message of the verse:  “20 In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. 21 If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.”

I really think that these verses in the New Living Version are self- explanatory for me to understand and to write on.  If the life that I live is clean I will have the opportunity to be use by God for His honor and glory, and if I make a mess of my life by not obeying the commandments that are taught in the Scripture then God will not use me.  I must point out that because I am a child of the King that He can use me.  The other thing that I noticed in this verse is the description of the utensils are both gold and silver, it is not wood and clay.  Paul uses similar descriptions to describe the works of the believer at the judgment seat of Christ.  If a believer works are of wood they will be burned up and if they are of silver or gold they will last.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I believe that if I can keep my life clean so that the Lord can use me when He sees fit then when I have to go before the judgment seat of Christ my works will not burn up but will last.  I want to be available for the use of the Lord for the cause of Jesus Christ.

The Word of God was inspiring to me today.

Memory verses for the week:  1Timothy 6:9,10

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.  For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
