Flee Youthful Lusts (2 Tim. 2:22)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 8-08-02

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  Flee youthful lusts

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  2Timothy 2:22

Message of the verse:  “Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

I think what Paul is saying in this verse is that as believers we are to get away from the things that cause us to stumble and fall and then we are to replace them with good things that he mentions in this verse.  Things like righteousness, faith, love, and peace are to be pursued instead of sin.  He also says that believers are to get strength from being around other believers, believers who have a pure heart for the Lord.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  To make this verse practical in my life I need to stay away from the TV when I am tempted to look at programs that are not good for me to watch.  I need to flee from them and then meditate on His Word and be with others of like faith.

The Word of God brought conviction, and education, and also strength to me today.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To have prayer time with Sandy, and also to have my prayer time too.

Memory verses for the week:  1Timothy 6:9,10

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.  For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
