My
Worship Time Focus: Know the truth
Bible
Reading & Meditation Reference: 2Timothy 2:25
Message
of the verse: “25 with gentleness
correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them
repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,”
I think
that this verse is speaking of those who are not saved because God is the only
One who can “grant them repentance.” God
is also the only One who can show them the knowledge of the truth. I believe that this truth is the truth of the
gospel, that Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins and that they need
to confess the fact that they are sinners and trust Christ to save them from
their sins.
This verse
has application to believers who argue with those in authority over them. This one with authority over them must be
gentle in guiding them to the truth so that they can repent of their sins and
come back into fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Spiritual
meaning for my life today: As I look
at this verse I believe that I need to make sure that if I come into a
situation with an unbeliever that I do not argue with them over things, but be
gentle with them in dependence on the Holy Spirit to guide them into the truth. The same applies with believers who are not
walking with the Lord
The Word of God brought conviction and edification to me
today.
My
Steps of Faith Today: I know that
Sandy and I have not prayed for a few days now, and I know that we need to do
this on a consistent basis, and that it is my job as leader of the home to
gently make this happen.
Memory
verses for the week; 1Timothy 6:9,10
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a
snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction
and perdition. For the love of money is
a root of all kinds of evil, for with some have strayed from the faith in their
greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
