Christ Gave Himself For Us (Titus 2:14)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 10-28-02

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  Christ gave Himself for me

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Titus 2:14

Message of the verse:  “14 who did give himself for us, that he might ransom us from all lawlessness, and might purify to Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works;” 15 ¶ these things be speaking, and exhorting, and convicting, with all charge; let no one despise thee! (YLT)  “He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing what is right.”  You must teach these things and encourage your people to do them, correcting them when necessary.  You have the authority to do this, so don’t let anyone ignore you or disregard what you say.  (NLT)

Paul reminds Titus and all who will read this letter, that the reason that Christ came to earth was so that He might ransom us from all lawlessness, and to cleanse us, or purify us to Himself as His very own people.  This truth is the very heart of the Gospel.  Paul goes on in the next verse and says that in light of this great truth that Titus must teach and remind the people of his church these things and also to encourage them and correcting them when necessary.  Paul reminds Titus that he has the authority to do that so he should not let anyone say that he does not have to follow the things that Titus teaches them.

The Word of God encouraged me with the wonderful reminder of the message of the Gospel.

My Steps of Faith Today:  I want to get all of my devotions done, and do them with the correct motive, which I believe is to become more like Christ, to worship the Lord, and to bring glory to God.  I want only to fear the Lord and not any situation, and to use the spiritual armor when needed.

Memory verses for the week:  Romans 11:33,34

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!  For who has known the mind of the Lord?  Or who has become His counselor”
